Hotel Amenities You Can’t Live Without

All Orlando Hotels offer some amenities. Many hotels go to the extreme and provide an enormous number of features for guests staying at their property. The real question lies in what you need to make for an enjoyable time. At orlandovacation.com, we conducted a survey of over 125 visitors traveling through us this past summer. Each had certain hotel features they were looking for that would make their Orlando Vacation more attractive. Here is what the survey showed to be the top 10 amenities.

Closeness to Disney World Where this is not necessarily an amenity, it came up in our survey far more than we expected. In an earlier survey we found that 43% of all visitors selected hotels due to their close proximity to Disney World.

Free shuttle transportation… Due to the low cost of airfares, many visitors chose to fly to Orlando. With most hotels offering FREE scheduled shuttle service, this is one amenity you will definitely want to check out.

Wireless Internet Service More people today seem to want to stay connected. Access to the internet is just important today as a phone. Most hotels offer FREE wireless internet hot spots in the commercial areas and now most Orlando Hotels are offering WIFI in the rooms.

Free Breakfast A great idea especially for the large family but in Orlando, there are a very few properties which offer such a great benefit for staying at their hotel.

Shuttle to other theme parks There are three other popular theme parks in the Orlando area outside of the four main parks at Disney World. These are SeaWorld, and Universal Studios along with Islands of Adventure. A very few of the hotels in the Disney area including the Radisson Worldgate Resort and the Best Western Lakeside provide FREE scheduled shuttle service to all 7 of the major theme parks in Orlando.

Refrigerator an Microwave This was quite popular feature back four to five years ago especially as people with larger families looked to cook microwave pizza and drink store bought cokes rather than the expensive ones from the machine. Today, most hotels moved away from this and the move by vacationers now is to rent an Orlando vacation house with a private pool or condo with a full kitchen and many more bedrooms for the same price as a mid range 3 star hotel.

In-room Coffee Maker Most of the hotels we surveyed in Orlando offer a Coffee Maker with FREE coffee to their guests. This amenity seems to be more popular each year. I guess everyone likes to wake up and get that first cup of coffee before starting out.

Complimentary Newspaper I know I enjoy this amenity when I travel and it is a shame most mid-priced hotels in the Disney World area don’t offer this as a benefit. One suggestion if this is important is to join the hotels frequent traveler program. The major brands such as Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Radisson all feature such loyalty programs. The cost of joining is FREE and one of their benefits is a FREE local or USA Today newspaper each time you stay at one of their hotels.

Washer and Dryers Again this was not requested in the previous surveys, but it goes to show that many are packing less and are wearing their clothes more. This is definitely smart and all of the hotels we surveyed including those found on the popular web site orlandovacation.com offer FREE washer and dryers to their guests.

Exercise rooms Where this amenity came in #6 in the previous survey, it fell to #10 this time around. I guess that answers the age old question where are all the people who work out in these facilities each day. For us we are always puzzled for we never see the exercise rooms put to much use in Orlando.
